Welcome to SNAPshops Boise! I am not a Boise native…I know, did I just say that out loud? Please don’t hold that against me. My family moved here in 2002 when my husband was assigned to Mt. Home AFB. We fell in love with the area! When he was re-assigned to North Carolina, we rented our house with hopes of moving back and settling down after Nick’s “retirement.” Our plan worked and in 2007 we moved back. I hope we never have to move again. We love Idaho!
My primary focus is my family. I have two boys, 10 & 3 and they keep me plenty busy! It was with the birth of my first son, Nick, that my interest in photography started. Of course, what mom doesn’t become completely obsessed with photographing and capturing every moment of their first born’s life?!?! I loved it…and started getting pretty good. I upgraded my camera to a DSLR, bought a few fancy lenses and then started playing around. I think the single most important thing in developing one’s skill as a photographer is to know your camera! Before I really understood what aperture meant, I would put my camera on AV, take a photo of something at 4.0 and then take another of the same object at 11. Then would go inside and see the difference. I read my owner’s manual from cover to cover and picked up a lot of great tips from Bill Hurter. Then people, who loved the photos I had on display of my son, started asking me to take photos of their children and family. From there Gina Marie Photography bloomed.
Now, that I have settled back here in Boise, my business has more than tripled from the moment I arrived in 2007. I absolutely love family photography!!! I relish the opportunity to capture the subtle interactions between loved ones and am grateful for those who truly let me into their world. I love children and babies and parents and grandparents and all the dynamics between relatives and siblings. I could sit in a park and watch people all day and with a camera in my hand, well, just try to get me to leave…
Now, I am excited to impart that knowledge onto you. I look forward to teaching you all of my tricks and techniques. Once we learn your camera then we will have fun! I plan on extending SNAPshops to include special sessions in photographing newborns and children. I am completely open to suggestions. Send me a message, let me know what you want to learn, who or what you want to photograph and together we’ll make it happen. To see my latest work, please visit my blog: www.quellapersona.com.
Warmly,
Gina Marie
